The Guinea Bissau MP team supported a management partner in Guinea Bissau to support its Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) team. The support centres on building the team’s leadership and management capacity through in-class sessions, one-on-one coaching sessions, and capstone projects. The project started in April 2019 and ended in July 2021.

Impact:

On this support project, Solina has redefined the team’s organogram, clearly articulated staff terms of reference, and provided support to recruit staff required in line with the updated organogram. Also, the team established an EPI technical working group that meets routinely to take data-driven action to enhance the program. Currently, all critical departmental functions are codified to aid their conduct and enable staff succession. There is an increased leadership team and increased capacity. The country team independently carries out 80% of the functions as against 20% when we started. Other key milestones achieved with the team functioning include:

  • First supportive supervision visit conducted for the first time since 8yrs
  • ICC meeting conduct improved by 100%
  • Champions identified within the EPI team to coach their peers and accelerate the overall capacity development
