Babafemi trained as a medical doctor who is passionate about improving health and other developmental outcomes especially in underserved areas. His interest lies in the nexus between research, policy development and practice. He believes learning is a lifelong commitment and always seeks out opportunities to improve himself. In addition to his core academic credentials, he has certifications in public management and performance-based financing. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, a Member of Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and a Mandela Washington Fellow. Prior to SCIDaR, he worked as a clinician providing services across public and private health facilities.

Working at SCIDaR

Babafemi believes in transforming lives and making systems work especially for the underserved populations. That was his motivation to join SCIDaR where he has been able to develop his core consulting skills and honed his leadership skills. He particularly loves the energy his colleagues bring to the table and the “can-do” abilities exuded by them. Working at SCIDaR has availed him several opportunities to collaborate with different stakeholders including governments, technical experts, and donors to address pressing development challenges with results to show for it. Nothing could have been more fulfilling! Babafemi manages a portfolio of projects geared towards improving public sector human capital, strengthening health systems, and driving development in line with SCIDaR’s mission to improve health and social outcomes. Currently, he manages SCIDaR’s Human Resources for Health (HRH) and Nigeria’s polio program portfolios, leading teams that provide managerial and technical supports to federal and state governments across the programs.
