At SCIDaR, we believe that sustainable development starts with people; curious, capable, and purpose-driven individuals committed to impact. In June 2025, we enhanced this commitment by engaging directly with students at two leading institutions: Nile University and Covenant University.

On June 4, SCIDaR joined a diverse group of employers at the Nile University 2025 Career Fair, connecting with final-year students exploring opportunities beyond traditional sectors. Our team shared insights into SCIDaR’s work at the intersection of public health, research, and systems strengthening. We met future analysts, researchers, and communicators eager to apply their academic skills to real-world challenges.

Just over a week later, on June 13, SCIDaR participated in the Covenant University Career Fair. There, we introduced students to the competencies we value: adaptability, collaboration, analytical thinking, and a passion for social change. At our exhibition booth, students from diverse disciplines; health sciences, engineering, economics, engaged us with questions about how their skills could translate into development impact.

Why This Matters

These engagements reflect SCIDaR’s strategic commitment to investing in talent pipelines and demystifying career paths in the development sector. For us, engaging university students is more about mentorship, exposure, and cultivating the next generation of African development leaders.

Omotayo Flourish, a graduating economics student at Covenant University, said it best: “I have always wanted to contribute to a mission like SCIDaR’s. It’s exciting to see how I can use data and policy skills to improve lives.”

We thank Nile University and Covenant University for creating spaces where potential meets purpose. These events are part of a broader effort to identify talent early, nurture it intentionally, and align it with meaningful missions.

SCIDaR will continue to engage with academic institutions across Nigeria, offering students a window into careers that combine purpose and professional growth. We invite curious minds to follow our work and explore internship, analyst, and research opportunities.
