SCIDaR is proud to announce that we have achieved ISO/IEC 27001 certification, the internationally recognized standard for information security management. The certification was conducted by DNV Business Assurance in Africa, a trusted global certification body. Their independent audit validated our practices and provided insights that will guide ongoing improvements. Independent certification matters because it assures stakeholders that SCIDaR’s systems meet rigorous global standards, not just internal expectations. This milestone is a statement of our commitment to safeguarding the data entrusted to us by partners, donors, and communities across Africa. It reinforces accountability and builds confidence that sensitive information is secure and responsibly managed.

Strengthening Systems is Strengthening Trust

As our operations grow, so does our responsibility to protect programmatic and health information. Achieving ISO/IEC 27001 certification confirms that SCIDaR has embedded a structured, globally benchmarked framework for data protection, risk management, and accountability. It ensures that information security is not left to chance but deliberately integrated into daily operations.

The most important lesson from this process was clear: lasting security depends not only on technology, but on people. Embedding a culture of shared accountability across all staff was both the greatest challenge and the greatest reward of the journey.

Why It Matters

  • For partners and donors: external assurance that information is managed with care and compliance.
  • For staff: a safer, more controlled digital workspace that reduces risk.
  • For beneficiaries: protection of sensitive health information, reinforcing the trust that communities place in us.

Looking Ahead

ISO/IEC 27001 certification is the beginning of a continuous improvement cycle. SCIDaR will undergo annual surveillance audits, strengthen advanced security systems, and continue investing in staff training. By embedding cybersecurity into every part of our work, we are setting a higher bar for operational excellence and trust in the development sector.

For SCIDaR, protecting information is protecting people.
