Lasting impact doesn’t happen by chance; it comes from building systems that work and improving them over time.
For years, SCIDaR has applied this thinking to complex challenges in health. Now, that same approach is being extended into education, where the need for stronger coordination and more effective systems is just as critical.
As part of this expanding work, SCIDaR is supporting the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) through the provision of technical assistance to UBEC’s leadership and departments and implementing the rollout of the commission’s seven-year strategic blueprint (2025–2031). This includes supporting SUBEBs in building stronger education action plans, tracking of key interventions across education levels and improving financing through public-private partnerships. and puts systems in place to track progress and measure results.
At the same time, SCIDaR’s partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education is focused on improving the quality of skills development across Nigeria. The work involves conducting a comprehensive assessment of select Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide and developing a cost improvement plan to guide targeted investments. By designing a TVET grading tool, SCIDaR is supporting the government to improve evidence-based planning for targeted TVET interventions to ensure that training leads to practical and industry-relevant skills. This initiative is aligned with the government’s objective of equipping 5 million young people by 2030.
These efforts are part of a broader shift, reflecting our growing role in strengthening systems that shape not just health outcomes but education and economic opportunities as well.
At its core, the goal remains simple: SCIDaR is committed to ensuring that solutions are evidence-based and lead to real improvements for the people they serve, by strengthening systems that can deliver results over time.
