The Solina consortium, comprising Solina, AFENET, and ACE Strategy, is providing targeted support to strengthen the leadership, management, and coordination of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) across three GAVI MoU states: Bayelsa, Katsina, and Kebbi.

Prior to the implementation phase, the Solina consortium conducted a two-day ideation workshop in these states, involving the Executive Secretary SPHCB/DA, Directors, PM SERICC, State and LGA EPI managers, and partners from UNICEF and WHO. The workshop aimed to review diagnostic findings and co-develop solutions to address identified gaps.

Participants co-developed work plans to address leadership, management, and coordination (LMC) gaps and created a data map to inform data-driven decision-making within the EPI. Additionally, panel discussions with key EPI decision-makers focused on improving technical working group coordination and optimizing capacity building for EPI managers.

The workshop outputs have informed a comprehensive project implementation plan, embedded in the states’ Health Systems Strengthening work plans. Implementation is now in full swing across the three states.

This collaborative effort is a significant step towards a more efficient and effective immunization system, reducing zero-dose children and improving immunization coverage in the states.
