Adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) face numerous barriers shaped by long-standing social norms that affect their health, economic opportunities, and safety.
Through comprehensive scoping reviews, Project SONER, the Social Norms Evidence Review seeks to identify strategies and insights that remain unpublished or under-recognised in the Nigerian space. By leveraging entertainment media, faith leaders, and cultural champions, the project seeks to provide insights that will help implementers improve their intervention designs to be more effective at tackling the social norms affecting adolescent girls and young women (AGYW).
Supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and running from June 2024 to May 2025, Project SONER will focus on Nigeria, Kenya, and India, with a mission to improve outcomes in women’s economic empowerment, sexual and reproductive health, and gender-based violence prevention.
With SCIDaR and UCSD-GEH as key partners, Project SONER is committed to creating lasting change for AGYW. We are excited to be part of this transformative journey as we actively work with stakeholders to create sustainable, positive changes for AGYW in Nigeria and beyond.
Stay tuned for updates as we continue to pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future.
