Cameroon’s routine immunization programme has made gradual progress in recent years, with national Penta1 coverage increasing from 56% in 2019 to 60% in 2020. Despite these gains, immunization performance remained below the West and Central Africa regional target of 62%, signaling persistent gaps in programme effectiveness. The Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) operates at the national, regional, and district levels, with responsibility for planning, coordination, and monitoring service delivery. However, the programme’s ability to translate policy into consistent, high-quality implementation depended heavily on effective leadership, strong coordination mechanisms, and the reliable use of routine data.
